All That Jazz! Sunday Soundscapes
“All That Jazz!” introduces two new voices from the New York jazz scene – guitarist Matthew Rotker-Lynn and vocalist Ariana Stefanidis. TheIr renditions of jazz classics, bossa nova hits and original compositions are sure to warm up your spring!
Originally from Milwaukee, WI, Matthew moved to NYC at age 18 to pursue a degree in Jazz Studies at the City College of New York. It was there that he got to study with musicians such as Peter Bernstein, Steve Wilson, Lage Lund, and Ray Gallon, and it was there that he met Ariana, who was studying vocal jazz performance. Since then, the duo has quickly become well known in the New York jazz scene.
Matthew has already played at top jazz venues such as Smalls, Cellar Dog, the 1905, the Django, the Roxy, Cafe Bohemia, Chris’ Jazz Cafe, and Ornithology. He recently recorded a six song EP on the Canadian label “Cellar Live” with Alex Claffy and Jimmy Macbride, featuring special guest Aaron Goldberg,
Ariana Stefanidis got her start in jazz when she began playing trumpet at age 12, but discovered her passion for singing during her undergraduate studies at the CCNY. She quickly propelled herself into the live jazz scene in NYC, singing at many venues including the iconic 55 Bar in Manhattan. She was a finalist in the 2021 Ella Fitzgerald Jazz Vocal Competition, and is a regular studio singer for R&B and pop artists. Matthew and Ariana recently released a jazz EP entitled “I Understand”.
“All That Jazz!” takes place at the Weston Public Library at 4 pm on Sunday, March 16th. Reservations are recommended, as seating is limited. Donations ($20 adults, $10 students) are suggested, but not required. Please use the link below to reserve seats.
