Deborah Weiss Solo Exhibit at One River School Gallery in Westport
Elisa Contemporary Art is thrilled to present a solo exhibit of the botanical hand cut collage artwork of Deborah Weiss at the One River School in Westport.
The exhibit will run from now through September 27 at 833 Post Road East, Westport CT.
Join us for a reception on Saturday, September 21 from 2-4pm
Working with hand dyed papers, cyanotypes, and other hand cut materials, Deborah Weiss puts a contemporary spin on traditional botanical drawings.
According to Weiss, “I choose to focus on silhouettes and unique color palettes. I usually spend time at the beginning of the week painting and dying papers.Once I am certain I have the range of colors I need, I will start to cut out the botanical shapes.
I work on several compositions at once. This allows me to move the botanical shapes around until I have found the right relationship of balance, color, and textures.
As the work progresses, I also include vintage papers, cancelled postage stamps, antique books.”
Deborah Weiss is a visual artist creating both works on panel and paper. She has exhibited throughout the US and in international exhibitions in China, Sweden, Italy, England and Denmark.
