The Crown Gallery at Metro Arts Studios is proud to present In The Now, an exhibition of contemporary figurative art in a variety of 2D and 3D media. Participating artists include Traé Brooks, Faustin Adeniran, and Janice Mauro. This exhibition invites viewers to contemplate the complexities of identity, vulnerability, and the figure as a site of both personal and universal expression, reinforcing the idea that this is not only an act of introspection but also a profound statement of resistance and survival. Through the use of contrasting materials and methods, these artists create works that challenge conventional boundaries, inviting a deeper engagement with the physical and emotional aspects of the human experience. In The Now, named for a thought-provoking quote by poet, philosopher, and activist Audre Lorde, whose writing has long been a catalyst for conversations on identity, empowerment, and social justice. “Life is very short and what we have to do must be done in the now.”
The exhibit runs from March 30 to May 10.
