Civility in America Series Presents Karen Elliott House, Author of The Man Who Would Be King

Author Karen Elliott House, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and former publisher of The Wall Street Journal, will visit the Ferguson Library to discuss her biography The Man Who Would Be King: Mohammed bin Salman and the Transformation of Saudi Arabia. The conversation, part of the ongoing Civility in America Series, will be held at the Main Library, DiMattia Building Wednesday, September 17 at 6 p.m.
The Man Who Would Be King is an account of the life of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), head of the House of Saud, the calculating ruler of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and a central power broker in the Middle East.
In the biography, House draws on exclusive interviews with the Crown Prince, his royal relatives, and his inner ring of advisors as well as more than 40 years of experience covering the Arab kingdom to reveal a leader who is a reformer determined to modernize his kingdom but also an autocrat who jails political opponents and rival princes to assure his grip on power.
House is also the author of On Saudi Arabia: Its People, Past, Religion, Fault Lines—and Future. She resides in New Jersey.
A book sale and signing by Elm Street Books will follow the presentation.
The Civility in America Series is presented in partnership with The Dilenschneider Group and Hearst Connecticut Media Group.
